Guitar Elements
A passion for Guitar & Music Education Since 2004
Guitar Elements began in 2003, when I created the original
GuitarElements.com using Macromedia Dreamweaver. At that time,
building and maintaining a website required a considerable investment of time,
technology, and money. But the purpose of Guitar Elements was never about making
money from students. The website was created as a free guitar education resource,
especially for teenagers and young people who wanted an opportunity to learn music.
More than two decades later, that purpose remains the same:
Guitar Elements is dedicated to providing free guitar lessons and interactive
guitar training in the name of music education.
Music Is More Than Learning To Pay an Instrument
I believe music is an essential part of life. Learning music involves much more
than memorizing notes, scales, and chords. Music connects with mathematics,
patterns, timing, rhythm, listening, coordination, creativity, and problem-solving.
Learning to play guitar also teaches valuable habits. Students learn how to focus,
practice through repetition, develop patience, stay dedicated to a goal, recognize
their mistakes, make corrections, and continue when something is difficult.
These skills extend far beyond the guitar. The discipline required to practice a
difficult scale, memorize the fretboard, master a chord, or repeat an exercise until
it becomes natural can help young people understand an important lesson:
progress comes from patience, practice, persistence, and the willingness
to keep learning.
Guitar Elements Rebuilt for a New Generation
In 2026, I decided to completely rebuild Guitar Elements from scratch and bring the
original idea into a new generation of technology. The new website,
GuitarLessons.info, was developed using WordPress, Divi 5 Theme
Builder, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, and a custom interactive guitar lesson system.
This is not simply a recreation of the original website. Guitar Elements has evolved
into an interactive guitar training platform designed to help students see, hear,
understand, and practice what they are learning directly on the guitar fretboard.
Interactive Guitar Lessons & Fretboard Training
The Guitar Elements training system is being developed around five major areas of
guitar education:
Scales, Arpeggios, Modes, Chords, and Exercises.
Students can work through structured lessons using an interactive guitar fretboard,
practice at an appropriate tempo, and develop their skills through repetition.
The website also includes Fretboard Wizard, an interactive learning
game designed to help students memorize note locations across the guitar fretboard.
The goal is not simply to memorize diagrams, but to develop real fretboard knowledge
that students can use while playing.
Decades of Guitar Experience and skill
Guitar has also been an important part of our family for decades. My wife, Angela,
taught guitar lessons for many years at Fountain Valley Music in the Huntington
Beach, California area. Together, we have decades of experience playing guitar,
learning music, and sharing our love of the instrument.
We understand that learning guitar takes time. Every guitarist begins somewhere.
Some students learn quickly, while others need more repetition. What matters is
continuing to practice, listening carefully, learning from mistakes, and enjoying
the process of becoming a better musician.
Free for All - In the name of Education.
The philosophy behind Guitar Elements has remained remarkably simple since 2003:
music education should be accessible.
GuitarLessons.info is being created as a free educational resource for guitar
students who want to learn, practice, and better understand their instrument.
There is no shortcut to becoming a musician, but students should have access to
good tools that help them learn.
Our hope is that Guitar Elements helps students develop more than guitar skills.
We hope they develop curiosity, concentration, patience, discipline, confidence,
and the determination to continue learning when something becomes difficult.
Because in the end, learning guitar is not only about playing notes.
It is about learning how to learn.
Guitar Elements — Free for All, in the Name of Music Education.
